Who's got a Dewalt DW712 as I need a favour....

Post by uncle buck »

Hi,
anyone out there who has a DW712 could you do me a favour?

I'm after a couple of measurements from the shaft that the blade goes onto.

I'm after the diameter measurement of the shaft (White line) & also the measurement between the 2 flats that are on the shaft (Yellow line)

Thanks.

Thanks for the help guys.

@ big-all,
Thanks for that..... I know the bore size is 30mm.

Apart from the measurements in the photo I'm interested to know if when fitting the blade does the flange that the blade sits onto projects through the blade at all or is it flush with the left side of the blade before the retaining flange is fitted.

I need the measurements as I have an idea of how a laser could be fitted to the saw...which would be a handy addition.

Cheers.

you should note its about 6mm[approx] long it passes through the blade the keep washer on the other side has the same hole with flats on to lock each side of the blade together

just incase its relivent i dont have a chamfer on mine

Hi,
Thanks for that....
I don't think the chamfer is important.

Would there be any chance of you taking a close up photo of:

1. The arbor assembly without the blade fitted.

2. The arbor assembly with the blade fitted but without the washer that keeps the blade on.

Let me know.

Cheers.

i am afraid i managed to take pictures of my worksop 3 years ago and put them in photobucket but nowt since as i cant remember how :cb :cb

anyway it looks exactly as the one in your with the inner washer removed you have around 1/2" protruding
you also have 2 exposed screw holes a few mm from the shaft but not shure if anything is screwed in from the back

the back washer reminds me off a china mans hat with most off the pointed bit removed

the outer edge of the washer is around 2mm then after a short 45% taper itt around 4mm
then a 10 degree ish slop towards the centre makes it 7mm
then the final flair at around 70degrees to 10mm where the centre arbour pokes through

hope that makes sence

Wow great pis tango...thanks.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to the thread but I've not had a lot of time to get on the computer lately.

Well going from the pics you have posted & the dimensions that big-all gave it seems that a laser could be fitted to the Dewalt 712 quite easily.

I think that the laser from the Metabo KGS 255 would fit straight on.

The Laser from the 255 is a very good but simple idea...it's actually built into the flange that keeps the blade on...this takes the place of the blade outer washer. The Laser is powered by button cells & it is switched on centrifugally when the blade spins.

I'll try to get a few pics of the Metabo laser tomorrow & post them up so you can see what I mean.

Cheers.
