100mm soil pipe how to cut the hole

Post by Slugster »

I've got regular ceramic tiles for the bathroom so they should be fairly easy to cut (well compared to porcelain LOL).

How would you cut the hole for the bog waste pipe?

I do have a core cutter for brick of that size but would that work on tiles? Or do I nibble the hole out?

Actually - It'll probably go across more than one tile so that rules out the core cutter I guess...

Cheers

I would use a HSS hole saw 100/110mm for the sh*t pipe.

Mark the tile.

Place any glazed wall tile, (glaze down) onto your manual cutter bed, place the marked tile on top. score the curved tile mark by sliding the tile under your scoring wheel (the glazed tile down helps the slide)

Then use a wet cutter to cut lots of little fingers up to your scored mark, then snap the fingers off and neaten up with nippers/sanding stone.

In the event that you have large tiles that require a hole in only one tile, use a hole saw, diamond coated or similar.

If you have some spare tiles you could fix them to something and try the core cutter to see if it works. I would guess it would work on ceramic, but not porcelain.

Thanks for all the suggestions :thumbright:

I have way to many tiles so I'll try the core cutter for sure.

But the chances of the whole hole  being on one tile are pretty slim.

If it works I'll let you know
