Door Stop Fitting
Where should a door stop be fitted when the door opens into open space and not against a wall

ok ozzy i was answering this post when you moved it and cant find it now !!!
heres the answer anyway
the door stop always goes in the same place the thickness of the door away from the edge plus an extra 1mm on the hinge side and 0.5mm on the lock side
but allowing for slight discrepancys in fitting you dont attach the door stop untill the door is installed
knock a couple of nails into the frame to temporarily support the door so it cant fall through the opening whilst your shooting it in[fitting it to size]

I thought he meant the door stop of the type that stps the door swinging too wide, like the rubber one that screws into the floor!

Thanks for the info, but the door opens out over and has a self closer fitted to the top. So if the door opens out over and you want the door to stop in line with hinge or just past this point, how far in from the loose end of the door should you fit the door stop.
