WIMMIN!

Post by 54aardvark »

Been working on a farmhouse over the past few weeks, way out in the wilds of Aberdeenshire so living in a caravan on-site during the week. Phase 2 of the project is another farmhouse, uninhabited for 22 years, in reasonably good nick which the farmers son is due to move into in at Christmas when he gets married. At least 8 weeks of work, so effectively booked solid till end of November, consequently I have had to turn away quite a bit of work.

Finished phase 1 yesterday afternoon and making arrangements to move the caravan to the new site when farmers wife approached me..........

"They're not moving in, his fiancee has decided she doesn't like the house"

She was black-affronted and so embarrasssed (and pi&&ed off with her son & partner) - I couldn't really say what I felt like saying, which is why I'm her in the Grumpy Corner.

WTF! I first looked at the place 3 months ago and the fiancee must have thought about it at some time before (and since) then - granted its a bit of a tip at the moment but thats what I was going to sort out. Just as well I didn't get in materials (and there was a lot needed on that job), I very nearly did the other week when Leyland had one of their bargain weeks but decided to hang on till cash-flow was a bit better.

Which explains why I'm not at work today, trying to shoogle some December jobs forward and (vain hope) contacting some of the folk I turned down to see if they are still looking to get their jobs done.

So apologies for the title - it should probably read "Daft wifie who cannae make her mind up and has cocked up my work schedule & cash-flow - farmers son is welcome to her"!

If I can't fix it with a hammer it's an electrical fault.

Great word isn't it!

Managed to pull a Hall/Stairs/Landing forward to week after next and a couple of days plastering next week - so we'll eat this month!

Meanwhile there are no excuses about getting my books up to date - deep joy! But better get on with it before I get busy again.
