Removing grout on tile surface.

While appling grout to tiles in bathroom one of my children came to grief which required a quick trip to hospital. When the dust had settled and I had a chance to return to my job I realised that in the near panick at the time I had not removed the grout and I am now looking at some very expensive tiles covered in grout.
Is there any way of removing the grout without damaging the surface.

It depends what the tiles are made from, there are some chemical cleaners available.
