Post by handyman »

just ordered yet another refill of my turbogold box.......£55 :cb

They are good, and my main screw of choice when working, but is there anything as good but cheaper?

the thing about turbo gold you virtualy never need need to pilot or countersink

so if you want to save money use silvers and pilot near the end off the timber or in smaller sections

or just be lazy like most off us and pay an extra 2p a screw on average

Do they go rusty when used out of doors?
I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

Turbogold screws are excellent. I always use these. If I buy something with screws included they get thrown and I use turbogolds instead

I was very impressed with the Spax Flooring screws and was wondering about using them generally instead of the Turbogolds

What you guys reckon to these:

245 Pieces. All the most popular screw sizes. Zinc yellow, Pozidriv™ in a plastic case. - £12.99

or this one - 3100 Pieces. No pre-drilling required with this selection of the most popular sizes of woodscrew. Supplied in high quality metal case with 16 individual pull-out compartments and safety catch - £54.99

I think RichAndo may have mentoined about using Screwfix via Quidco, but I never remembered  But just logged onto Quidco and they say Screwfix have upped the cashback to 7% when you buy on-line, so deffo worth doing that if you don't already

And I have to remember to doso as well ::b

I have always used Spax woodscrews. However I was giving a couple of boxes of Turbogold screws and I found these to be just as good. Even cheaper. :thumbright:

Now I mostly use Turbogold.

you cant use PZ bits on these as it "cams out" as the torq increases, SPAX bits are Z1-2-3 and you do get double enders in the trade cases :thumbright:
