yup, no marks on the surface that is over the glass, it has 2 'bulls-eyes' of cracked glass showing, and at these centers the cover has no marks. Will phone the store in morning and see what they say.

For my money JL will see you right. If you can get a refund get a different telly from, yes, you've guessed is Sound and Vision and save a few quid

(I wonder how my mentioning Sound and Vision is doing in the Google stats

I think Sound and Vision do Hi-Fi's as well. I know Sound and Vision certainly do LCDs and Plasmas and all the accessories, so thats Sound and Vision for all your Audio Visual needs.

(did I mention I DONT work for Sound and Vision)

I would stick with JLP

Free 5 year guarantee and you know they will be around to sort you out in that 5 years - sadly same may not be true of some of the cut-price internet-only retailers

My 5yr guarantee was by Panasonic as part of a deal to get you into the store.

The only problem I encountered with this store is that they have so many TV's side-by-side and even tho' I knew exactly which one I wanted they choice blew my mind. The info I got off the sales staff was good. I ended up selecting a 42" plasma instead of the 37" LCD (which was still less than the JL price for the 37" LCD) however it was the only one that was out of stock which was lucky for me as the missus would have killed me bringing that monster into the house

It isnt meant to withstand a child throwing a toy at the screen for example.......or should it?

Thats an example of damage caused as seen on a google search, may not be any damage on the protective cover either in a case like that, although there are a lot of examples where people say they did nothing to the surface, just switched on and it went bang

They also dont cover cracked mobile phone screens, theres loads of cases of this.

ebay is littered with tv's for spare or repair, cracked screen, £30

Hopefully worrying about nothing

it all depends on how it happened if dammage is caused through missuse then neither the sale off goods act or the manufacturer gtee will be applicable

a childs toy is subjective a small soft toy wont count and throwing a hard toy may count

it all depends on whether you should reasonably expect a tv in a family area to cope with normal family activitys

well, the experts were round today, and said its impact damage, so not covered.

No "well theres this and this and this", just a straight "no, its impact damage".

I now have to wait a few days for the report to be forwarded to JL, then i will phone them and see what they say

Things have moved on so much that the TVs are worse now at handling sitting in a living room
