£505 to fix it, so its a ebay job for £20 spares/repair
JL sending out an independant second engineer, and if his report matches the first (which it obviously will) then theres nothing they can do.
Might try a Sony next time
feel sick

i have a friend that worked for Time Computers and he was an engineer for claims against their in house LCD's.
he said its very rare for a screen to crack on power up and if it has then opening up the lcd would show clues; he's not come across it and the lazy engineer will say impact as they do get alot of fraudulent claims.
also if you kick up a big enough fuss some places will just sort you out rather than drag it out esp as 1080p's are comming down in price very quick.
other option is to get insurance covering accidental damage then in a few months.....

These two look like good value ...
Sense 42" FULL HD Ready TV Freeview 1080p - £547.78inc vat
91 reviews and looks like average rating of 5/5
Sense 32" HD Ready LCD TV Digital Freeview - £299.95inc vat
135 reviews and average rating of 4.5/5
One thing worth bearing in mind with LCD TVs - when it comes to the LCD panel itself, there are still only 2 or 3 makers of the panels (Samsung being the largest one I think?)

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

its a £45 charge for the second opinion, and JL will pay that and replace tv if there is any evidence/possibility of any manufacturer defect.
Second company will be phoning me, so will try and get an idea of what he would say in the report..........mabye 24 cans of cider and a bottle of whisky would sway him
