Emulsion over a darker colour

Post by bodgitandscarper »

Hi everybody,
Just about to decorate my staircase, a three story house, the existing colour is a yellow emulsion not to dark. I,m going over it with white emulsion. is it ok to go straight on top of the yellow with the white or would it be better to use an isolater if there is one, I anticipate that it will take a minimum of 2 coats if going straight on top possibly 3, any help much apreiciated .....

Yellow can sometimes be a real swine to cover, if your final colour is going to be white you might want to go over it with a magnolia first coat or a cream.
