Im currently revovating a period property and have taken on building stud partitions where the layout has changed significantly, i had the help of a friend who was a joiner, unfortunatley things havent worked out and he is unable to help me so ive decided to have a go myself.
problem:
im framing out a room which was lath and plaster which has been gutted to the bare stone, im re-framign it with CLS timber and have reached a window, here is an example i found on the internet which is similar to what im after (the example is bigger than what i will be attempting)
im sure i could manage to frame it out quite basically, just wanted to do it right and i dont see any DIY sites which explain how to tackle framing parts like this.
stud walls - window surrounds

I would imagine probably because that's not the most common DIY task requested to be fair.
These are essentially frame and panel panels.....
There must be info online on how to make 'frame and panel' cabinet doors.....what you see in the photo above are just variations on this.
You could achieve similar results, by making basic shaker style frame and panels, and applying an off the shelf ogee panel mould to the inside of the frames.
You could even really cheat, and just make them from 18mm MDF, laminate 9mm MDF on top to create the panel effect, and fix ogee panel mould into the rebates.
Or you could spend some time learning how to create tight fitting mortice and tenon framing joints, and how to work profile and scribe router cutter sets.....

right ok, that sounds pretty much like what was removed, except that part of the building had been roughly upgraded and it was actual plasterboard and not wooden paneling.
whats the correct name for this and is there any online tutorials on how to do this? it's just the method of building the frame im instrested in getting right, whether i use plasterboard or attempt to re-create the panelling isnt important at this stage
