removing lint from worktop

Post by 5lab »

ello all

was oiling my new (ikea sourced) worktop yesterday, with a t-shirt I was told would be lint-free, and have found out it wasn't - result - lots of lint stuck in the surface of the worktop. Can't pick it out - is my best course of action to sand it? I guess i'd have to sand it with a belt sander, along the grain, with pretty soft paper (orbital sander wouldn't work as well, I think??)

Cheers!

I do not think that you need to be that aggressive with the sanding. Try a well used bit of sandpaper first and progress up to more abrasive papers as needed. Do it by hand for feel, not machines.

a scraper blade with a new edge may work too... hold the blade at an angle and gently PULL (not push as this will dig in) over the worktop along the grain till you feel no more blemishes
