What tool for what job
Just got myself thinking about planes as there appears to be different types for different jobs - clearly I didn't know this as I'm not a big user of them. Is there anywhere on this site that explains to the average DIYer (yes, the likes of me) which type of tool to use on what type of task ?

Not yet, but I will try and look into it.
I have been thinking about doing a "tool encycolpedia" for the site where all tools are listed alphabetically.
The listing would include a description of the tool and what it is used for and hopefully a short movie clip demonstrating how to use the tool.
Making this will be very time consuming, but I'll dedicate some time to it soon.
I'll start to make some pages for it when I get chance

I was begining to think it was a crap idea looking at the lack of responses
Dunno about the video demo, that really would take too long but I'm sure the chippy's (for example) on the site can provide a paragraph or two to describe the differences between saws, planes etc.
I'd contribute but my knowledge of the correct usage is limited which is why I suggested it
So come of you 'pros' please contribute here then UHM can compile a compilation page. Almost make it a wiki here so everyone can contribute their thoughts then UHM can compile the best bits
