What nails for oak...can't remember what NOT to use.

What type of nails reacts with the oil in the wood and makes the oak blacken?

I cant remember what I should be using and what I shoudn't.

Ok...sorry but I need minded again.

Am I better with 50mm or 63mm nails for putting on oak skirting? It's about 15mm thick, the plasterboard behind it is 12.5mm. I can't decide whether the 50mm is ok or too short....and if the 63mm is ok or overkill!

I don't know what's up with me just now, I can't do decisions, even for simple things.

Stainless steel nails for the Dewalt DC618 are flipping expensive......what's galvanised? Are they no use? They're loads cheaper.

The guide for nailing is two and half times the materiel be fixed so the 63mm is the better choice.

50mm brass screw and plug for hidden fixings

63mm brass screws and cups for surface mounting

you only get discoloration with moisture galvy should be 90% ok so maybe 1 in 10 will stain if they get damp!!
