Rich DVLA will give the old owner 2wks to reply; if he doesnt they will assume its sold. pain the 4ss really but the old owner just has to phone DVLA to tell them its sold and they'll sort it out. ring him and tell him to sort it as its his fault in the first place.

also nowadays no matter what a copper tells you; another copper has every right to take your vehicle if not taxed (very likely with ANPR), common sense doesnt blossom in the public services sector.

You all clearly know what goes on at the DVLA  ::b

These people have to deal with all sorts of idiots and devious people who try to abuse the system. Processes have to be put in place to protect law abiding people and sometimes these processes can be slow whilst they verify the details of the car and/or the potential.previous owner. When things are done properly it is very quick.

They are investing a lot of money in new technology - its amazing what the DVLA get involved in - to improve efficiencies and cost savings. The staff there are no different to you and me, altho' they are Welsh

I recently tried to renew my car tax on line only to be told by the system that I had no MOT (oops ) so I booked the car in for MOT and when I returned from the MOT centre I tried to renew again and this time it verified everything was OK and my new tax disc was on my door mat the next morning.

Its always easy to criticise others when things aren't correct on your own side

Ski...i wasn't criticising them because things wern't correct on my side i was criticising them because i followed EXACTLY what they told me to do and then they said i shouldn't have done that :angryfire:

the main argument i have is that i followed their instructions and they deny they said it to me, i ask for the convo to be replayed they refuse to do so. when i was told about these checks they do (as RAF mentioned too) they told me i would have to wait until he replied. i asked a VERY SIMPLE "but what if he is away on holiday for all of December, do i have to wait until he comes back?" to which they replied "i cannot discuss that with you sir"...why not? it's not a data protected answer? ::b

anyway, i don't have to wait for them to decide they arn't helpful, i managed to contact the seller that had the renew document, he taxed it for me where he lives and sent it through the post to me...bunch of unhelpful retards.

i don't have to drive a freezing cold van with no blower to the do now :thumbright:

MY van is also knackered, but I'm waiting until it packs in completely before I replace it.

Not that the 2.5% vat reduction will make much of a difference.

Perhaps if the government forze vat completely for a while it would make a difference.

Now there's a good idea, for an indefinite period as well.
