infected files ??????
Morning all.
A while ago i asked how i could get files off my old hard drive which is infected with virus;s. and with good advice from this forum I managed to transfere my pictures files onto a usb memory stick.... Problem I have now is... I want to download these files onto my new hard drive but am worried these files my be infected, HOW CAN I CHECK as i dont want to put the virus on new hard drive....... Thank everyone for your time and responces... kenny......

not sure whether AVG has the ability to scan a usb drive ,dont run it myself but i know you can scan specified folders so guess you can do it from there ?
oh and chances are the pictures wont be infected anyway ,it will be some other files on there ,autorun.ini is a favourite
just had a thought... if you go to each file you can right click on it and it will say something like "scan with AVG"

You can get external; hard drives very cheap now, all are plug and play so just connect it to your USB port as you would a flash drive (USB stick) and your PC will reconize it instantly.
500GB Western Digital is about £55 on amazon. I find this good for backing up my picturers docs etc
