breakdown recovery

Post by handyman »

had the renewal through and its £236, thats for home, roadside, and europe with addon of campervan recovery throughout europe with RAC

Its the europe cover and the campervan that bumps the price way up.

Phoned this morning to ask if it can be a bit cheaper......it goes to £210, and i say i will think about it. Phone again this afternoon and say i want to cancel as its too much money, and it goes to £168 !

Not bad for a few calls. :thumbright:

It really gets me mad when they do this :cussing:

They should offer you the best price they can in the first place, to save you messing around.

These firms that say "we will beat any quote" or "we will beat your best price" really, really p*ss me off. I will never give these people my business as they should of given me the lowest price to begin with.

Woohoo! This post reminded me that I have breakdown cover for a van I'm not even using. I've just cancelled it and saved a fortune. :-)

Thanks Handyman :thumbright:

this cover is for the person, not the vehicle..........(i mean the vehicle the covered person is in, even if they dont own it and just getting a lift for example)

uhm,

too true. But this price was actually very good, as you need a lorry to recover the campervan (3.5 ton and 6.5 meter long), and in europe, you can imagine how much that would cost to get back home.

Its a gamble on their part to do it at that price. She was asking how old the campervan was etc.

I've had a woman chasing me for Home insurance, you know how it goes, we can promise you the world, so Yesterday I gave her all the details.

After about 15mins, she says, with the special items we can't offer you insurance ::b

It used to be expensive to insure the van for breakdown cover with the AA, they kept putting the price up and said it was because of the size of the van. I phoned the RAC and it was almost half the price, plus I get a no claims discount each year.
