external door
Post by starlinggirl »
I have had my external doors replaced by the developers who built my house under the terms of the NHBC guarantee. One door has been replaced 6 times and the other 5!! These are the doors into my house, I live in a one sided house, entry from the front. Both doors, one into lounge (5) and front door (6) do not fit. The last fitting of the front door, prompted the developd to replace the draght excluder. But I can still see daylight at the edge, where it meets the frame. I am at my wits end with the developer, and I just dont know what to do! Can anyone help me please?
I should say the lounge door (5) doesnt fit either but they refused to replace that one, and the NHBC feel its within acceptable limits.

So the front doors has gaps, is it UPVC or wooden? When you say the internal doesn't fit. Do you mean its too tight or too loose??

the gaps are where the door meets the frame at the top and bottom. It would probably be impossible to show pictures, but its a hardwood door with two glass panelscarhartt kid wrote:So the front doors has gaps, is it UPVC or wooden? It really would be easier to diagnose the problems with some pictures!
However in the meantime, I've found in the past, sealing up an external door can be easy if you use a combination of draft strips. Lorient to a comprehensive range and can be bought all over the country.
I use a 1000 series batwing seal inside my frames. And combination of perimeter seals depending on how air tight the building has to be. But the batwings are brilliant!
