I have just had Travertine flooring fitted in the downstairs of my house. I was aware before fitting that it would not have a perfect finish but I have been left really diasappointed with the overall result. The tiles are uneven and some are 'lipping', this is more noticable now that the grout has discoloured, I only had this fitted about 6 weeks ago.
Am I being fussy or is this not how Travertine should be? I wouldn't have minded this finish if my husband had fitted it but I paid a proffessional a lot of money to get the job done properly.
Can someone give me some advice please

most travs should be laid relatively flatly, its normally slates and terracotta tiles that have severe bows or raises on the tile surface that cause natural lips. you could try getting a stone specialist to look at it for you and get their opinion.
i've laid about 600+m2 of travertine thuis year in the company i work for and weve had no complaints about lipped tiles.

If your tiles are honed or highly polished there should be no lipped on them.....i suggest you call your tiler back and give him a mouthfull.
Also where did you buy your tiles? were they supplied by the tiler?
try and get some more of the exact ones and if there all the same thickness then this is good evidence to be armed with if/when the tiler comes back.
good luck
