Removing floor tiles

Post by joanna »

I am trying to remove cork tiles from our cloakroom floor, they are very firmly attached to vinyl tiles, with a layer of adhesive beneath that. Is there anything I could use to remove both tiles and adhesive?

A good quality scraper and you could also try using an hot hair gun to soften the adhesive

I'd also get a suitable face mask, just incase there are any toxic vapors released when heating!

removing tile adhesive

Post by Keygs »

I have just taken up cork tiles with rotary hammer drill with a chisel attachment.
I then took the adhesive off with 50/50 turps and metho, left it for about 10 to 20 mins and used a scrapper
Metho reacts to the glue and the turps stops it from drying out too quick
cheers
