Razordeck - anyone used one?

Post by golden_wonder »

Hi all

I have some ceiling work to do in my old town house which has rather high ceilings. I first thought about hiring a scaffold tower in to do the job, but as i am getting on a bit i am not sure how easy it will be to set one up as it's just me and the wife.

My local hire shop has suggested a razordeck which is a self erecting tower. Has anyone got any experience with them?

I found a movie on their website and it looks ideal if it is that simple to set up.

Any advice appreciated

I would think getting on a bit means getting someone else to doitall  it certainly does in this house anyway.

I have used something similar and they do save a lot of time, and are a lot safer than a ladder. They are also a lot more expensive. If you are going to hire one make sure the company give you a demonstration in your home on how to use it.

Or even better as scruff said. Why not rest your bones and get somebody else to do it for you.
It may seem difficult at first! But everything is difficult at first.

Thats a pretty cool alternative to a ladder, I'd not heard of it before so I got all enthusiastic until I spotted the price :? I'll stick with my boring old ladders.

How about podium steps? You can get them in varios heights.

Much lighter than that contraption i reckon.

Razordecks are fine as long as you've got plenty of room to move them about in. I found it quite limited to what height you can use them at as well. You've only three options of deck height and if you only need to use the lowest, its a bulky lump to get around.

On the other hand, its safe as houses, idiot proof and very reliable bit of kit! Very little can go wrong with them!
