stainless steel tile trim and adhesive for porcelain

Post by sparkydude »

Hello can anyone point me in the direction of some stainless steel tile trim , not the rounded one, i am looking for the one thats just an L shape . Also what adhesive do you recommend for porcelain tiles to be stuck to a plastered wall.

Thanks

Nick
If it isnt broke dont bloody touch it until it bloody well is and if it is broke then make drawing of the connections before you remove the broken one and replace with a new one LoL

Hi Nick,

I can't say that I have ever seen stainless trim, it is normally alloy and is sometime anodised to colour it.

Most of the pro's on here seem to use BAL adhesives - http://www.bal-adhesives.co.uk/bal/bal_ ... oducts.asp

i use pci nanolight for porcelain as that is what my tile supplier sells

and i think shutra do a huge range of tile egdings, althought the porcelain i have always use has been coloured on the edges so you may not need edging

The best company for tile trims in this country is Schluter:-

http://www.schluter.co.uk/products.aspx

As for adhesive, try Bal single part flexible, it has a very long pot life, 8 hours I believe and is nice to use.

Timm has a point about the tiles not needing trim, I prefer to see an overlap with Porcelain, it looks more natural.

Thanks for the help lads, i am only using the tile trim on the top of the tiles where they go round into a window reveal, to give the tile an end , as the tiles are a mosaic effect the edges will have the grooves in them for the mosaic so want to cover them up with the tile trim. looked at schluter for the trims, they do exactly what i am after just need to find a stockist in the midlands

A stainless steel L trim will be in the region of £25 a length, if it's just a window trim Polished Aluminium would probably look better and be a third of the price.
