Tiles are falling off

Hi guys,

can u plz help me my tiles are falling of what can i do, here are a few pic of the tiles in the bathroom.

It looks as if the tiles are stuck on with dabs of adhesive, not a full spread and notched with the trowel, not a good idea. A tiler did that for me, a lot fell off. Is that wall skimmed with plaster? Very smooth, a rendered wall, or unskimmed plasterboard will grip tiles better. Looks like water has got underneath from below as well.

i agree with mooncat, looks like its been dabbed on, bit of a cowboy doing it that way. Also you could try this before tiling(should really have done all the shower first) http://www.screwfix.com/search.do;jsess ... lop+shower

That is a real bad job.

Tiling on ply should only be as a last resort, tile backer boards are now available that are much better suited.

Dabbing adhesive on the tiles like that is a definate no no!

It also looks like the plasterboard may have been coated with PVA as well as there is some staining.

The wood looks extremely damp as well.

Is the whole bathroom tiled, or just around the bath?

Looks a bit of a bodge job.............silicon has failed and damp has got in..........also as mentioned dot & dab is a no no

I would say that the seat of the bath has put stress on the silicon seal and it has failed. Water then sucks up by capillary action and breaks the adhesive down, or reactivates PVA doing the same damage.

I think that you can bodge it for a time but it really has to come out and be replaced with Aquapanel as a tiling surface.
