TA nice sentiment mate , but average joe doesnt want to spend out on having 3-4sqM of tiling put down that they will never see!Tryanything wrote:I always tile the whole floor for 2 reasons
1 Any future kitdhen alteration you dont have to worry about patching in
floor tiles
2 Any leaks from under sink or appliances are visible sooner rather than
later
IF IT WERE EASY ITD B BORING!

Re: Kitchen tiling
I usually tile under the front legs, by raising them as i go, and also as UHM said remove the appliances that are freestanding then tile into those areas ! (just remember to check there is enough clearance for the appliances to go back before you stick the tiles down)Danielb wrote:What is best when tiling in the kitchen floor, is it best to tile under the kitchen units or tile up to them?
Which is the best way?

Agree on both points. My first kitchen was fitted first, then I laid cork tiles only where the floor showed plus under the plinths. Unknown to us the dishwasher started to leak, but only when it was filling, so we didn't know about it until the tiles started to lift. When we had our present kitchen the ceramic tiles are wall to wall. Cork tiles were warm, and crockery bounced instead of shattering.Tryanything wrote:I always tile the whole floor for 2 reasons

I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.
