Email problems

Post by ultimatehandyman »

I'm having shed loads of trouble at the moment with emails.

I keep getting emails that appear to be sent from my own email address and when I check the properties it looks like they come from my email

I use incredimail at the moment and I can block and even bounce messages back to the sender. If I block one of these emails that look like they come from my address I block my own messages. If I bounce the email back to the sender it gets bounced back to me :wtf:

I really don't know what the hell to do to fix this one

any sensible ideas?

Don't know how you're set up, but in your situation I would have all incoming mail into a remote stand alone computer the same as mine.

not much you can do, whoever is sending them is forging the message headers (the bits which say where the message is from, to avoid spam filters)

Check your sent messages folder though to make sure that your email account hasn't been hacked.

Otherwise just keep deleting them.

hopefully she doesn't use a password like
"password" "123456" "opensesame" "letmein" "cosmo" "xfactor" "Bigbrother"

drives me nuts the amount of people who get their email accounts hacked and wonder why with passwords like that ::b ::b

I was having a similar problem a little while ago where l was getting a lot
of spam, the address they were coming from was the same as mine apart
from the letters before @

Solved the problem by creating a message rule that any email with part
of my mail address in it was not downloaded from the server

If l need to send myself an email l just turn the rule off
There would be less trouble in the world
if l had not had six daughters

Unfortunately I can't do that as it is the admin email for the forum and the directory. When someone submits to the directory I get an email and if someone is struggling joining the forum I also get an email, from my main account.
