Lost disc for printer

My neighbour has recently purchased a lexmark printer for her laptop, but has lost the CD to install it on to her laptop.

Any ideas if she can download anything of the net.

I'm absolutely sure you can download from the Lexmark website.
Is she aware that a replacement set of ink cartridges for a Lexmark printer will cost more than the printer cost? Its the Lexmark catch. In the long run just about any other make will work out cheaper.

Mikew1972. I never knew that about the ink. Which printer would you say is the cheapest for their ink then.

I'd ebay is probably your best bet for cartigages or possibly get them refilled although never tried that myself

personally I'd say Epson, but dont buy the "compatibles" the ink is junk and clogs up the printer killing it

Epson genuine ink is also light fast up to 100 years, so you can use cheap media and still get good results unlike HP etc

Cheapest printers to run are without doubt Epson ..but as been said they are pretty crap for clogging up unless you use them day in day out then they are fine

Cannon is most peoples favourite ,never had one but a friend who prints loads swears by them

I've got a brother printer all in one very good, inks cheap as well if you buy the compatible cartridges.

I have been happy with the Brother printers, you pay a bit more for them but they are quite good.

@ asinine: as I said compatible cartridges clog them up. Genuine ones dont seem to, even on printers which have been left for a long time. Plus the inks dont fade unlike the compatibles.

Used the Epson R300 for about 8years, and never had any problems with clogging.

They have separate cartridges for 5 colours and black.

Would recommend it to anyone.

Never had any of those problems with compatibles, maybe the printer doesn't like them mine doesn't bother.

scot-canuck i don't agree with that. i have been using Epson printers ever since i built my 1st pc years n years ago. the ONLY time i ever use the original cartridges is when they are with a new printer. i also have built no end of rigs for people and always supplied Epson printers with them. i usually end up supplying all of their ink when they run out. i have never yet had one clog up.

i personally wouldn't have a Lexmark if it was free (and it is with most PC world PC's, i wonder why?) but i would almost certainly use compatible cartridges for them because as stated, the Lexmark originals cost more than the printer.

i've been using the R300 since it came out as well Scruff

there is a little trick to using them though
