rich, like everything luck of the draw and depends on your cartridges.
From my own experiences (and a few colleagues) I tend to find the compatibles do clog things up, could be due to the higher volumes of ink used (business printers)(which suddenly stop working, and when checked always have compatibles in them)

Dislike lexmarks also,expensive and drivers.....finicky

I personally use compatible cartridges aswell and have done for years. Ive never had any clogging issues but the quality of the print isnt as good as original cartridges (this doesnt matter to me as i only ever print in draft mode for documents). There are plenty of articles online regarding ink comparisons and they tend to say that the original cartridges are the best and i would agree but cheapies are fine for what i need.
If your doing high quality photos then i would use originals otherwise get the cheapies.
