final (hopefully tiling question)

Decided that the areas i was going to paint are now getting tiled as they were prior to removal.

The tiles i have to put up are 600x300 porcelain, my main worry is obviously having them fall off especially with a 3 year old in the house.

The condition of the walls after tile removal arent bad apart from tears in the paper surface where the old tiles were dot and dabbed some areas have taken chunks of plasterboard off.

What im after is the safest way to do this, do

a: replasterboard
b: the holes as best i can


Ive been reading posts regarding this and am still unsure tbh
Ive got the idea in my head to go for a porcelain adhesive something like BAL, now do i have to use BAL APD or whatver its called first to fully seal the walls before i go about getting a powdered adhesive or just pay a pro to come and tile for me, was hoping to have a go myself but am worrying myself over it.

Were the tiles fixed straight to the PB or is it skimmed also?

Your right about the two ways to do this, either fill the holes woth bonding plaster then skim over with finishing plaster (do not tile to bonding plaster) or rip the lot off & re-board. Cheapest option is probably to re-plaster but that depends on your area needed to re-board, if its more than 2 of 8x4 boards, then re-plaster.

Recommeded guidelines state that safe weights for tiles are 32kg/m2 fixed directly to PB & 20kg fixed directly to a skimmed wall.

Use BAL APD on any plaster but no need on PB, BAL single part flexible adhesive with porcelbond will be good for either plaster or PB offering excellent adhesion to both surfaces.

what about using aquapanel or similar if walls look to bad?

Yeah thats fine but adding extra cost to it
