Inverters

hi guys,
I'm looking to get a new inverter and wondered if you have any views on quality makes - I don't want to buy a "disposable" thing!

I'm specifically looking for a 24v 2Kw Pure sine-wave thing.

I've seen plenty of things on ebay with no brand names, and history tells us they tend to last about 18 months before packing up.
Other makes I have seen are invertek studer, the price here being typically 4 to 5 times the no name things.

Well I changed plans - I bought a 2000W (4000W peak, but not for long!) modified sinewave inverter by "Ring".
It's a nice solid unit, and is quite happy running all my power tools, although its not man enough to run the cement mixer ;-(

I'll let you know how well it performs over the comming weeks / months.

I'm still on the lookout for a 1000W pure sinewave inverter for the more sensitive stuff like battery chargers, as I've knackered these in the past on generators.

Well so far so good, the inverter works a treat!

I also just got an old UPS which has a nice smooth sinewave output, and starts up from the battery, its only 950W but thats fine for a bit of battery charging and use with the more sensitive kit.

The "ring" inverter is still going strong, it's actually rated at 1.5kw full time or 2kw for short bursts. it will also "peak" at 4kw, but only for enough time for the equipment to start up.
it's fine for most of my workshop kit, but it struggles with the 2kw saw.

so providing your kit is 1.5kw or less this inverter is fine.
