Hi All i have been given a PC with windows XP Pro on it, however they cannot remember the passwords for it, it just comes up with administrator and then cannot get any further. It has no disc with it but does have the keycode for the software installed in it . Does anyone have any fixes as to how to get into the PC and change the passwords to some more memorable ones!!!!
Thanks
Nick

If it isnt broke dont bloody touch it until it bloody well is and if it is broke then make drawing of the connections before you remove the broken one and replace with a new one LoL

SD,
Five free pasasword crackers here:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofth ... covery.htm
Follow the links in blue to get the download and the instructions.
The first one uses a ISO file that you burn to CD on another computer then set the BIOS to boot from CD and let it boot from the ISO CD.
Not complicated if you take it a step at a time.

As you can not get as far as it loading, do you know how to boot in safemode?
Start the computer and as soon as it begins to start, keep tapping the F8 key until it boots into safe mode, then try this:
1. Reboot Windows in Safe Mode.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type the command: control userpasswords2 and then click OK:
4. Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password. Or click reset Admin Password.
5. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.

For recovering admin and user account passwords, bit of a ball ache but it works.
http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?w ... ront_id=12
Burn iso to disc and set computer to boot from cd at start up, let the program run untill you see welcome to trinity rescue kit version 3.3 in blue writing.
type in winpass and press enter, will come up with a list of windows installations theres normally only one, type 1 and press enter, a list of accounts will show up, for the admin account type in winpass -u Administrator and enter, type in 1 for the windows installation and enter, will come up with 5 options,
1 clear password
2 edit password
3 promote user
4 unlock
5 exit
type in 4 and enter, type in winpass -u Administrator and enter, type in 1 and enter to choose the windows installation, then type in 1 and enter to clear the password, and the password should be disabled when you reboot the computer, do the same for any other accounts winpass -u and the account name winpass -u Guest for example and enter, each account has to be done seperatly and you have to unlock first then clear the password.
if you type in y when asked if you want to backup you can restore, dont disable syskey unless you have to when given an option.
Theres a few vids on youtube type in trinity 3.3.
