I don't think I'll get anyone to take the blame. The plumber has kindly agreed a reduction in price and to fix our outstanding snagging. I think he has done us a favour by carrying on an finishing the job, so I'm happy about that. Once Roman have fixed the shower cubicle (it needs a new door) I will write to them about the problems with the tray and the cubicle with copies of the invoices and ask for some help towards the costs.
We did have a plan that we put together on a piece of graph paper, that we showed, but didn't give to the plumber, but not a formal document.

good example today. at one end of this ensuite there is a vanity unit with a sit on lipped sink. i measured its width and it was spot on size to slot in after i had tiled as long as i didnt go to deep with the adhesive.
just before i started i decided i wanted to see it in to see how it looked. good job as the sink was formed slightly out of square and it wouldnt have gon it at the back. i then fitted it all and tiled down to it and it looks great.
if i hadnt have checked i would have been knackered.

There you go, get in touch with Consumer direct. Explain your situation and see what they say.The basic answer is that the plumber should have carried out the installation with 'reasonable care and skill.' It seems to me that he should not have installed the shower once it became apparant that the tray wasn't going to fit. I would say that he has recourse against whoever designed and ordered the shower in the first place - they are liable for the mistake and as such, should bear the cost. I would need more info for a more accurate answer, but he should phone consumer direct on 08454 04 05 06 for more accurate advice. He has a claim against both to be honest.

When Mrs Stoday says my shelves are wonkey I point out to her that the uprights have been manufactured slightly out of square.
