RAW conversion

Post by Have Brush Will Travel »

Heloooooo

Does anyone know anything about how to get a RAW converter or whatever its called on to the computer?

I have a NIKON D40X and a pile of raw images that I cant do anything with at the moment..I used to have the software on here but I have just reforatted and cant remember how to do it

One point...when I had it before it would only open in Elements 5 but not CS3

Thanks..

Hi,

I'd recommend checking out the Nikon website and getting the appropriate software. I think it's called ViewNX.

Alternatively, you can download the Canon software which has a very good converter and isn't camera model specific.

I used to use Adobe to convert mine, but now use Canon software because it's much easier to use.

If you have trouble finding it, then pm me.

Hope it helps :-)

I would recommend
Irfanview - http://www.irfanview.com

nifty little program, allows you to open virtually any picture format (some need a plugin, but still free) and re save in virtually any format

also supports all RAW types

Great, thanks chaps..

I will check out both options...its shame there isnt just a one off programme or bit of software to do the lot

Its pot luck sometimes whether they are going to open or not.

Cheers

Adobe camera raw should allow it to be opened in CS3, just needs to be updated, just click on help then updates and it should update camera raw so that photoshop will open your Nikon RAW files :thumbright:
