PDF printing question

Post by Mooncat »

To save wasting black ink, can I avoid printing the black banner on a bus timetable?

Example:

http://www.ceredigion.gov.uk/utilities/ ... ediaid=983

I can select the text, but can't work out how to transfer it so I can print only what I want
I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

I don't know if this will work for you, but I use the full version of Adobe Acrobat.

With this just scroll down to eliminate the black bar from view on your screen.

Click print, then select current view.

This will print only what the screen shows.

I'd use a freeware program called SRip32 (just Google it, there's loads of places to download it from).

It'll enable you to capture a rectangular area of anything you have on your screen. You could grab just the area of the timetable you're interested in, copy it to your clipboard, then paste it into a blank Word document for printing.

It's a great little tool for capturing screenshots and images.

Thanks, both, for the info. I suppose that as PDFs are intended for printing as they are, it didn't occur to the webmaster to create a printer-owner friendly version.
I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

You can print "current view" so that if you zoom in and only display the information you want to print you can print that on it's own.

if you highlight the text you want, left click and drag, then use "file", print, current view it will print only what you have highlighted, or just copy and paste into a word processor if adobe reader goes nuts.

When you click print, don't you get an option to print Pages from - to for example if you put 4-6 it will only print those pages.
