Had this for a few months now. Very impressed.
A comfortable drill to hold due to the rubber grips and nice design, although it is a little heavy for long periods of overhead work.
I choose the NiMH instead of the Li-ion, as weight isnt really an issue for me.
Copes with drilling steel upto about 11mm, does drill 13mm but struggles as it breaks through.
Copes with holesaws, flat bits, masonry quite happily. Although gets warm when using large diameter bits, but not let down on torque.
Good positive hammer action aswell, better than a lot of corded drills.
Chuck is excellent, easily tightens and doesnt jam if the bit snatches. All steel, so drilling in awkward positions or hitting the front of the chuck as you go through isnt an issue. No plastic covers to break.
The kit i have has 3 batteries, all 3.3ah, even large holes doesnt just zap the power straight from them like the smaller 2ah ones.
The charger is compatiable with most Hitachi batteries 18v or less.
Takes less than an hour to do the 3.3ah 18v ones, and as little as 20 mins to do 12v ones. All kept cool by a nice fan inside!
At £250, its certainly not the cheapest on the market, but worth every penny i feel.

Re: 18v Cordless DV18DMR
Sorry to rain on your parade guys, I have had the Hitachi for a couple of years now and to be honest its a little to powerfull for its own good. I had mine replaced because of the torque the casing split around the grip area and the chuck wears really quickly, try to avoid over using as a drill as this was the main cause of my problems, naievity on my part.
