I was given a set of Roebuck Uniwrench spanners a few months back from http://www.buckandhickman.com in order for me to test them out. As part of my job at work I help to maintain two chemical plants and in August I work two plant shutdowns, which has given me ample opportunity to test the spanners fully. When I was offered a set of these spanners I made it clear that I would test them and if they were rubbish I would tell everyone that they were rubbish! Luckily they were not rubbish and so here is my review of them-
I'm extremely glad that I had these spanners as they are absolutely brilliant and made my job much easier on a few occasions
The set of spanners includes the sizes 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19mm.
This is my set, which is looking a little oily-
The spanners have a splined end which can undo nuts such as spline, 12 point, square, 6 point, even when the 6 point is a 50% rounded of nut!
The spanner quality is superb and they have a high mirror finish which makes them easy to wipe clean, the spanners are also much longer than a normal spanner as these two pictures show, the first picture shows a 8mm Roebuck Uniwrench next to a standard Teng 8mm spanner and the second picture shows a 19mm Roebuck Uniwrench next to a standard 19mm Teng spanner-
The additional length gives extra leverage, which makes the spanners much easier to use.
So the spanners come in a useful tool roll, look great, are easy to clean and are longer than a normal spanner so they make it easier to undo and tighten nuts and bolts. The big question is can they remove nuts and bolts that a regular spanner cannot?
The answer is yes, they can
In fact just today I was on a job that involved undoing a special coupling that was held in place with eight 13mm bolts. The bolts had not been removed for years and had been tightened to a specified torque using a torque wrench some years ago. At first I used a standard spanner to undo a couple of them and then I slipped off a bolt as the corner had been rounded off. Because of the position of the coupling it was impossible to use a ratchet and socket and if a ring spanner was used you could only remove the bolt half of 1mm or else the spanner could not be removed again and so I had to use the ring end to crack the bolt loose and then use the open end of the spanner to fully undo it.
This gave me a perfect opportunity to test out the Roebuck Uniwrench!
I obtained the 13mm spanner from the set and removed the rest of the rounded off bolts with ease
Without these spanners I would of been messing about for hours with a pair of mole grips and so they certainly made my job easier.

I'd recommend these spanners to everyone, although they are not the cheapest spanners around the quality is excellent and they remove nuts and bolts that normal spanner cannot.
They are currently £47.98 for the 11 piece metric set +VAT but for a set of 11 quality spanners they are well worth the money. They are certainly a welcome addition to my toolbox
