Acrylic sheet to protect LCD TV

I have a 32" tv and it need protecting from the children in the house. So I have brought a 5mm acrylic sheet, I want to glue or fix it to the TV frame.
I was thinking of using clear silicone adhesive, but I would like some suggestions.

heeelllooo and welcome alchemist118

the first thing i would do is ask the manufacturer if it will invalidate the g/tee[affecting cooling for example]

you will need to add a frame to the edge no matter what you glue it with to hide the adhesive

if you apply the acrylic to the front and the void is not air tight the static will attract dust to the inside and you cant get rid off it

assuming they are young children can you not raise the telly a bit by putting it on the wall!!

or a gaurd around it untill they get bored

basicly if the finnished look off the telly is important i would try another option

Thanks for the reply.

The kids have already broken one of my wall mounted LCD TVs, and the family cannot live without one so I'm using my old big CRT.

The finish of the TV is not a big deal, I will make a frame... the a TV warrenty does not matter to me.

What kind of adhesive can i use to glue the plastic sheet?

Why not build a cupboard around it with doors that open when you want to watch.

I don't have the time to make a cupboard, I need to protect the LCD screen from balls, toy sword and little hands.

Do you think silicone is good enough?

Easy put a lock on the door so they either can't get out the bedroom or can't get in where the tv is.

Better still lock them in the garage.

Almost every home in the UK has at least one TV in it. I would guess that 30% of the homes in the UK have children in them.

Your problem does not seem to be occurring in the other homes with children, so perhaps you are looking at the wrong solution to the problem.

Might a little dose of discipline and control work better than trying to protect your valuables from the scallywags.

Have a look on ebay for loads of flat tvs for spare or repair. Screens are rubbish for impact of any type (my dog scrapped my £650 8 month old tv

)

In a way these tv's are worse than the old type.

You can get self adhesive velcro tabs. Use a few of these to fix the acrylic infront of the tv. They will hold the weight, add some cushioning and will allow you to remove the shield for easy cleaning.
