I am sure that the experts will advise you but my understanding is that the speed over the router will determine the speed of your transactions. Check the model and see how many Mips per second it transmits.

There is an update for some netgear routers when used on virgin media cable systems, am not sure but i seem to remeber it had something to do with speed and the cablemodem.

My router actually notified me of the update, depending on how new yours is the update may already be incuded, but it maywell be worth checking the netgear site for an update.

Let's get a few details because you were asking about a USB wireless adaptor last month, then you found an old 'dongle' that did not work on Vista.

geordie1-t22538.html

What wireless adaptor are you actually using and is it into a USB2.0 port?

Is the USB port working correctly because it wasn't last month?

Have you tried the Netgear 'wired' with an eternet cable and what sort of speed do you get?

What distance is the router from your PC when you try it wirelessly and what is in the way, walls etc?

I take it you have Vista on this PC, because you were asking the difference between 32 and 64 but never came back to say which you had.

Having seen his other questions that have gone unsanswered here, I think the thing to do is not reply to any more of his posts as he doesn't have the courtesy to bother replying.
