air brick removal

Post by themos »

Hi,
I have an air brick situated immediately above the front door (1970s cavity wall insulated house). I suppose it's there to provide ventilation for people inside, rather than any of the structure. I have installed whole house mechanical ventilation, so would like to block at least the internal part of the airbrick. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this. I plan to leave the external half as it is in case it vents the cavity.

thanks,

no, the heating system has been replaced by a modern combi boiler. I think it used to be some kind of hot air system, heated by gas. It used to be in a cupboard near the front door.
