Emails

Post by thescruff »

Why do some emails come through about 10 hrs later.

For example, I've just had (01:20) an reply notification from UHM timed at 13:36.

Had loads before that was posted after it.

Could be a problem with the UHM host email or their ISP.

Did you really create this post at 2:26am?

No, 01:26.

Had emails coming in all day from UHM them the odd ones seem to get lost, and arrive hours later. ::b

Bit like the post office I suppose.

Maybe ask the owner of the site to check it out. I doubt it's a problem your end as you receive other emails normally.

You still have your settings (on this site) set to BST.

Was I right in assuming it's just emails from this site? If not and it happens with other emails too, then get on to your ISP?

Using Outlook? If so, how often is it configured to check email? Pretty sure the default is 10 mins, maybe you're changed it to hours unknowingly.

No all emails not just UHM, Most are UHM because that's where 80% of my mail comes from.

Would suggest asking site owner if there's a problem with the emails. I don't have it setup to send me emails, so I'll set it and see what happens.

I got an email to notify me of the above reply about the same time too. Hmmm......

Verify your settings in Thunderbird under account settings. Default for it is 10 mins.

Most of the time it's fine, just the odd one or two is late every now and then.

Some ISPs email servers may be a bit slow or undergoing maintenance. Just happens sometimes.
