Securing Kitchen units

Hi folks,
First post here so be gentle please :)

I am in the process off finishing of my kitchen. I wanted to know how to secure the bottom units before fitting the worktop?

Also whats the best fitting for securing the units to the wall?

Screw the units together hiding the screws under the hinges. The backs are usually fixed on to the wall using an angle bracket. If you have adjacent units at right angles then do not go overboard as once the worktops are on it all locks up into a stable structure. If it is a straight run only then fix both ends and the middle.

Thanks for that, yeh they are pretty much a straight run right along the brick wall.. Sink unit will be at a 90 degree angle from it to the window but with washing machine to seperate sink unit from straight wall units. (if that makes sense)
Sink unit at present is about 890mm tall so just gona stay at that height for the rest of them??

So what about these wall units then? How to fix them securely?

You have to carefully drill for the wall mount. An alternative is this fixing rail from Woodfit. It enables you to beef up the fixing by putting a number of screws in the rail to spread the load. http://www.woodfit.com/product_info.php ... t.+-+Steel

As above, its sometimes hard to fix to the wall whiule the units are in place so it might be worth pulling them away first so you can drill and plug them.

Remember to check the level before and after to make sure nothing has moved.
