I'm tiling my cloakroom with 600x300x10mm pocelain tiles. Walls are plaster on rendered blockwork and plaster finish on plasterboard. Cloakroom is only 2m x1m (6ft 6" x 3ft)
The walls looked straight. The window/outside wall over it's full height (8ft) and using a 2 metre spirit level appears to lean out i.e. when placing the level against the wall, the end nearest the ceiling, showing level; the end nearest the floor is about 25mm off the wall!!
Placing a smaller level against the wall reveals hollow gaps behind the level of a few millimetres.
I realise now i should have checked for levels before starting the work but i didn't. I'm intending to tile half way up the wall using 12mm chrome trim.
Dispite taking the time to batten the walls and set out the tiles for a neat finish, the tiles are just not sitting right i.e. tile level at the top with the trim in place but the bottom of the same tile sticking above the line/level of the adjacent tile. My fear is that i may have too remove all that i've done so far and call in a professional. I'm using BAL adhesive with an 8mm combed trowl. Also, curiously, some of the actual tiles are not completly flat - placing a 2ft level on the surface of the tiles reveals imperfections in the tile 'flatness'. Please can someone provide me with a sensible remedy. Will chipping of the skim paster coat help??
I'm at my wits end......Thanks for fellers
