Citroen ZX injection pump leak

Post by Russellf97 »

I have the same problem as 'village idiot' posted on 06/04/2008; fuel weeping from the throttle spindle on a Lucas/CAV injection pump.

On 07/04/2008 'village idiot' posted;

"it's the lucas, have taken top cover off & removed the 2 "O" rings off shaft
will get a couple of new ones tomorrow & hopefully job's a goodun"

If he reads this, where did you source the o-rings: Were they from Citroen, or a diesel workshop, or where..., and was it a straightforward job - and more importantly, did it cure the leak?

I'm in the process of matriculating the car in France and have the French CT (MOT) tomorrow; hopefully it won't be a fail point. :help:

Unless its a very serious leak, i doubt it would be an issue, not for an MOT here anyway.

it was an easy enough job though fiddly, just had to make sure nothing fell into the pump

Yep, job done. Many thanks for your help :thumbright:

A pack of variously-sized o rings was 3.27euros from my local BricoMarche - and I'm sure I can find a use for all the others...

And yes, a fuel leak is a reason they will fail a car over here - guess how I know... :cb
