Travertine

Post by Simon Site Manager »

Hi Guys,

Have been laying travertine tiles in my en-suite today. Does anyone have any tips when it comes to grouting. Is it worth sealing the tiles before grouting (i also have grout seal too)

Thanks,
Simon

Most people seal them before grouting to prevent the grout from discolouring the travertine.

No, there is not one

I'm not terribly impressed with the software for the video site as it keeps throwing a wobly, so I might remake the site and just use my own embedded videos from youtube.

I'm trying to get more videos on there, but it can take upto 8 hours to put a 10 min video together.

I did mine a few years ago and sealed once before and once after.

Make sure you seal well under the first course of tiles. When you silicone the bath/shower, the silicone does not adhere well to the unsealed rough travertine between bath and tile as it is porous. Getting the stome sealer underneath seems pointless but I regret not doing it myself.
