my new laptop.
could anyone tell me why the up&down arrow buttons on the keyboard do not let me scroll the screen?... sometimes if i press the down arrow it will jump right down to the bottom of the page
another problem is that if I'm typing out an email, and i take to long typing it comes up with my session has expired and i lose everything that I've typed and have to start again.
the laptop is a dell running windows 7, thats about all i know about it without getting the box out.
any thoughts please.

How rude Scruff, you should have said...thescruff wrote:Perhaps your fat fingers are catching the end button, or it has a fault.
"Your digits are too expansive for the normal size keys."
Or, "try filing the ends of your fingers to 'normal' size."
Glad I'm not going to the Xmas bash or I'd be the one getting bashed.

Rio,
Open your browser and then press the F7 key, it will tell you about Caret Browsing and ask if you want to turn it on or off. It should be OFF.
If it is On, then turn it off by clicking Yes.
If it is Off then click Yes to turn it on, then go back to F7 to turn it off.
Post back how you get on and whaich browser you are using.

Not quite, Scruff.thescruff wrote:Is that what caret does then Dave.
On my laptop i can press the space bar and it scrolls down one screen page.
This may explain caret browsing but it is a bit complicated:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caret_navigation
The action you are getting of the page dropping down when you press the space bar is exactly the same as pressing the 'Page Down' key.
Both work the same on my keyboard.
Then if you hold down the 'Shift' key and press the space bar, the page will climb back up. Which is the same action as pressing the 'Page Up' key
