Ipod Nano

Post by bobbie-dazzler »

Move this if you think its in the wrong place, but didnt know where else to put it.

Here is my dilema......

Hubby bought me a Nano Ipod as a Xmas pressie bless him, but told him in the past that I didnt want one, but he wants to bring me up to date, and now comes the ferking problem, as I havent a clue what I am supposed to do with it. well, in all honesty I do have some idea, but cant get my head around which I will explain, or try to explain, so any advice as simple as you can make it would be of great help.

Right then.... I have this Nano, and comes with the most piffy little booklet/instruction thing I have ever seen, it mainly just tells you what the features are, nothing about how to download etc
So of course on the inside of the booklet it says to go to www.itunes.com/uk/downloads to install tunes etc.

So I go into this site, and you have to pay to do this, they want you to pay for a yearly, or 2 year subscription, and of course first you need to register, and I presume it would give you online instructions.

At the moment I just want to know how to work the bloody thing, or even put some of my CD music into it without having to register it on this site.

I think this is so unfair that you have to pay a subscription just to get the thing operating never mind downloading the music.
Lets face it, you wouldnt pay a fee to know how to work your washing machine, if you get my drift.

So is there any other way I can learn how to use this, or do I have to register with Itunes, and is this the norm now?
Is there any other way I can download my cds onto it without having to go into Itunes, bearing in mind there is no actual instructions, just the Ipod features and what it can do.

As you can see I havent a clue as per usual, this is why I didnt want one, as I know it will give me grief, well it has already lol.

Any help and advice is very welcome.

There are plenty of 'freeware' s/w out there, you just need to save rip it in the Apple format rather than MP3.

A quick google 'rip cd itunes' should get you on the right track

Cheers skiking, would this give you the instructions also, and what does RIP mean?
And how would I save it to an apple format, is that simple to do?

I am a complete novice, so step by step instructions and easy language is a must for me. :cb

Rip is the 'technical' word for transferring CD files onto different formats.

Apple are quite restrictive about there music compared to other formats (MP3) but there are still free tools out there to do it.

I don't own anything Apple so I'm not an expert on it - there are others on here that own Ipods :thumbright:

OMG, I had a quick nose, and cant make head or tail of it, it shows you how to do what they are saying, but not actually telling me what to do if you know what I mean.

I just hope someone with Ipods will answer and explain things to me, or its going back, I just want things simple.
Hubby asked me what I wants for xmas, and in all honesty I didnt want anything, as I have enough perfume, shoes, jewellery, bags etc, so to keep him happy I said get me a CD player and tuner for work,( I just wanted an plain old little one) he got me one, plus it had a docking station attached to it, and also the Ipod.
I looked at it in shock, as an ordinary radio.cd player does me, but okay I thought, give it a go.
Then, when I tried my favourite station, it didnt give a good receiption, so we took it back to the shop and bought a DAB, but no cd player, but am still stuck with the fercking Ipod.
So now I have to learn how to use it, and need to transfer my CDs to it, so I can plug in the Dab, but I cant even do that unless I register to Itunes and pay for the bloody privallage.

So, now you can see the mess I am in. ::b

Hi skiking, that one seems simplier, but I still have to register with Itunes, and that is the problem, they want to charge me a fee just to register, this is my gripe, not the tunes as such, but the fact that I cant get any info, or instructions unless I register to itunes, and everytime i fill in the details, they want me to pay X amount before I can proceed. :cussing:

I suggest you pack it all in a box, take it to the Post Office first thing in the morning and post it to my address

Once you get the hang of it, its simples

Load the Ipod software onto your computer and follow the 'instructions' on the link I gave. It appears that when you sync your ipod to your computer (basically, connect your ipod to the computer) it auto transfers the songs
