Using Blue Slate Roof Tiles for a Shower Wall

Hi

I am wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I have some old blue slate roof tiles that i would like to put on the wall behind my new shower. What i am unsure about is if it will work. They do not have completely straight edges and they are quite thin compared to normal wall tiles. I assume the adhesive will stick OK but the grout may have issues because of the tile thickness. Also, could water get in behind them easier? I don't think it would but a couple of people have raised this issue so they have got me worrying about it. They have a couple of small holes in them where the nail's went through to attach them to the roof but i don't think this would be an issue as i ca just dab a little grout in them. Any advice is much appreciated.

If you have enough tiles and room why not put battens up and nail the tiles up in the same pattern they would be on a roof that could give a real wow factor to the shower.

And maybe instal guttering to drain away the water?

I think it would look a lot better if you bought some proper slate tiles for the job, although I do have a friend who used roofing slate on a wall, but he chopped them so that he had a random pattern and then stuck them to the wall on a bed of solid mortar.
