Kitchen cabinet hinge fittings
Im refitting new kitchen cabinet doors to existing units. Ive removed the old doors and hinges but need to move the hinges to fit the new doors (the big hinge hole was pre-drilled so Im talking about the the hinge fitting to the inside of the unit). Ive tried to screw in the relevant screws to hold the hinge in place but they are just slipping out the wood. I see in the previous holes that little plastic hole inserts had been used to hold the screws in but does anyone know what these are called and where I can get them please?
Many thanks.
Nicky

Assuming your units are made of melamine faced chipboard it could mean that you are not using the right screws or the pilot holes are too big. It would help if you could post a picture to show the hinge and the cabinet.

The main hinge holes in the new cabinet doors were pre-drilled so I figured it was easier to just re-use the original hinges (the new pre-drilled hinge holes were the same size as the old hinge holes so the hinge fits in perfectly) and to just move the hinge back-plates. Im using the same screws that were already being used but previously they had been fitted by first sinking plastic type cups into the hole before siting the hinge and driving the screw in. I cant re-use the plastic cups that had been used previously as they were glued in and when I try to pull them out they just fall to pieces.
Its just the usual melamine covered unit but the screws just wont locate and end up slipping out. Ive tried to drill a shallow pilot hole beforehand but as soon as the screw goes in it just wont 'take'.
Ive been to the usual DIY stores but cant find anything. Ive seen on another thread that you can purchase hinge hole repair plates so I may have to use these but I just thought it would be must simpler to find the plastic cups!
Thanks for your help anyway guys.

I notice Hafele mentioned.
You can get smaller quantities by going to www.poolewaite.co.uk
These are Londons premiere ironmongers and the place I use for my ironmongery. Excellent service and fully qualified ironmongers also.
