Newbie question...

Post by Simon D »

Hello,

I'm about to tile a floor for the first time and have a question that I've not been able to find the answer to anywhere.

When I tile up to a wall and cut the tile to fit against the wall, should the cut be right against the wall or should a gap be left the same width as that between each tile, for grout?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Simon

yes it does make sense.

leave 2 or 3mm gap. This gap doesnt need to be grouted. You can finish along the edge with a nice neat silicon joint.

If you are laying the floor and then tiling the wall, you can leave a bigger gap as the wall tiles will cover it. Again you can finish with silicon joint.

Thanks for the replies. I will make sure I leave a gap and get some silicone.
