Hi guys, after some advice. The floor tiles that were down have come up in a line....i.e as if the concrete floor below had an expansion joint in it. Tiles have been taken up, but old adhesive is stiil down.
1. Can i just pva floor and refix new tiles with expansion joint in.
2. Do i really need to pva, or just wet floor, to hold adhesive drying out to quick.
3. Or will the floor need latexing first.
cheers in advance......kevin

I would get adhesive up and see what is underneath. then at least you are some way to not having the same problem again.
Commercial is commercial and buildings are done in many differents ways for running services. Could be boxed metal duct running through and this is why tiles have lifted in a line. In a purist world there should be an expansion joint either side of such ducting, otherwise you are bridging different backgrounds which can lead to cracking or failure of adhesive.
I know a lot of the time you get away with it but not all the time. So best to err on the side of caution.
Other option is to latex over and then lay detra matt and tile on top of that. This will provide a good flexible background for tiling onto. use flexi adhesive and grout with it. This matt is a good product I have used it on numerous occassions even to tile onto floorboards and never had a problem with it. The Yanks love it.
