Tiling a fire place hearth?

Can i use normal ceramic tiles or do i have to use special tiles and is it ok to use normal tile adisive and grout etc.....?

Any help is greatly accepted and thanks in advance.

ceramic tiles for a hearth should be "double fired"... i.e they are left in the kiln a lot longer than normal ceramic.
what subtrate are you fixing onto?
render/conctrete/p/board etc..?

Concrete, got some tiles of a friend so if they brake not fused. Any more advise is welcome. Thanks
