Cur tile and Tile trim - Which way round?

Post by DIY_Johnny »

Was doing some tiling today around small wash hand basins. the is a lot of cuts near the edges where a half tile meets a trim

Do you guys have the cut edge at the trim or where is meets a tile? I can never decide on this! The tile sits proud of the trim so looks fine if the trim is at the natural edge however looks slightly rough if beside a trim

Cut to trim.

Did you get the wrong size trim, perhaps!

It is a little short but the next size up (9mm) it too thick and i prefer to have the tile proud of the trim... Tiles are thin

7mm trim would be ideal.

... In hindsight, perhaps a 9mm would have been better and a thicker adhesive

in a word....yes lol.

Don't panic too much. If there is one thing I have learned, it is that tiling quite often looks cack until it is grouted and then it all looks fine.

Maybe you could have set out for full tiles.

Well I have 3 more units to do. I have all tiles cut now but not stuck on yet. I might change the trim for a thicker one.

Your right about the grout, unless you use a very bright coloured grout  Its like all these things, when you do it yourself, you think the flaws are very obvious but others don't notice!
